Thorough dental cleaning can reduce caries and periodontitis, and in many cases even prevent them. We offer professional dental cleaning, caries prophylaxis and accompanying treatments in periodontal therapy.
We place particular emphasis on caring for our patients with implants. For these, we have developed a special implant prophylaxis programme.
At the beginning of the professional dental cleaning, there is a thorough examination of your dentition, systematic recording of findings and diagnostics, and an informative conversation with tips on correct dental care.
Then the deposits on the tooth surfaces, in the interdental spaces and in the periodontal pockets are removed. Because bacteria primarily adhere to rough and cracked areas, the next step is a polishing process in which we smooth your teeth.
At the end of the treatment, the cleaned teeth are coated with a fluoride varnish. This protects the tooth surfaces from the acid attacks of oral bacteria.
Powder-water jet device
With the powder-water jet device, discolorations and pigment deposits are removed from tooth surfaces using a water-air mixture to which a cleaning powder (calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or glycine powder) is added.
Pocket cleaning
The cleaning of periodontal pockets must be carried out very carefully and requires special knowledge and experience in handling appropriate hand instruments.
Tooth polishing
After the fine cleaning, the teeth are polished. Through the preceding cleaning steps, the tooth surfaces have been roughened and, if left unsmoothed, would quickly be colonised again by bacteria and deposits. To avoid this, smooth tooth surfaces are polished to a high gloss with small rubber cups and small brushes as well as differently grained polishing paste.
Fluoridation
Finally, the tooth surfaces are fluoridated with a special solution or varnish to prevent caries. Fluorides promote the re-incorporation of enamel particles in the teeth (remineralisation) and protect the tooth enamel against "acid attacks" in the oral cavity.
Fissure sealing
Fissures are small depressions, gaps and grooves on the chewing surfaces in which bacteria nest that cannot be reached, or can only be poorly reached, with the toothbrush. Bacteria can cause caries with their metabolic products (acids). To prevent this, we seal the fissures
