Fillings become necessary whenever parts of the tooth have been destroyed by caries or injuries (trauma).
The filling has the task of restoring the original shape and function of the tooth and preventing the recurrence of caries.
Various materials are available for dental fillings. On the one hand, there are filling materials that are applied directly, and on the other hand, so-called inlays that are fabricated in a dental laboratory after an impression is taken.
